Here, we unravel a few of those closely guarded secrets. Just remember to come early to avoid the long line, which has been known to travel from our Meat Department all the way outside the building!

Cow Cheek Barbacoa

A tender, flavorful delicacy, barbacoa is traditionally prepared by slow-cooking the cow's cheek until it reaches melt-in-the-mouth perfection. Its rich, beefy flavors and soft texture make it an unforgettable treat. You can find our very own barbacoa starting on Saturdays as early as 9am.

Carnitas

This Mexican specialty involves simmering pork until it's beautifully tender and then frying it until golden and crispy. The result? Juicy, flavorful meat with a delicious crunch! Like our barbacoa, our carnitas are also available as early as 9am on Saturdays in our Meat Department.

Pork Rinds

A crunchy, savory snack, our pork rinds are nothing short of addictive. They're the perfect bite to munch on as you wander through our store. Technically, this particularly tasty treat is available daily. We just wanted to make sure no one forgot about this simple yet tasty treat during the week!

Pork Rinds with Meat

Elevating the traditional pork rind to new culinary heights, these are a meat-lover's dream. By incorporating juicy pieces of meat into the crispy pork rinds, we offer a richer, heartier flavor and texture. It's a delightful juxtaposition of crunchy and tender, providing a savory experience that will have you coming back for more. As with our Barbacoa and Carnitas, these are also available as early as 9am on Saturdays.

Menudo Soup

This traditional Mexican tripe stew comes freshly brewed in a rich broth with a hominy, tripe, chiles, veggies, and plenty of flavor! Its rich base is both hearty and flavorful. It's said to be the perfect remedy after a night of festivities! Hurry in, because it’s only available on Saturdays and Sundays while supplies last! 

Tamales

Handmade and steamed to perfection, these corn dough (masa) parcels, filled with meats, cheeses, or chilies, are a comforting treat that reminds many of home. You can find to-go bags of six tamales near our deli counter starting on Friday as early as 11am. These tasty meals come over fresh from the Salsa Grille Taqueria next door. They come in two different flavors, chicken or pork! You can enjoy our the convenient to-go tamales from Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. Plus, since they’re from the Taqueria, there’s no need to fear of supplies running out! If you don’t see them, simply ask, and we’ll get them stocked back up all piping hot and delicious.

Champurrado

A thick, rich Mexican chocolate-based atole drink, champurrado is the ideal beverage for those chilly mornings or cozy evenings. Made with masa, piloncillo, and chocolate, it's a delightful blend of warmth and sweetness. We even add a little cinnamon to give it that extra kick! You can find this amazing drink on Saturdays and Sundays at our Bakery Department window. It’s served piping hot all day long! So you won’t have to worry about us running out or waiting too long in a line. It’s the perfect way to start a morning or end the day.
